Server Rules

I keep the ruleset intentionally light. There is only one hard rule on the server, while the rest are community guidelines meant to keep the experience fair, interesting, and enjoyable for everyone.

Guideline One

Conduct

I do not have strict conduct rules, but I strongly encourage players to behave in a way that contributes to a good experience for everyone on the server.

You are free to be hostile, ambitious, or even a jerk, just understand that if you push too far, the community may eventually come together against you.

Guideline Two

Roleplay

Roleplay is encouraged. I ask players to aim for interactions that are more interesting than treating every encounter as a default kill-on-sight situation. This is better for a long run server like The Endless Rot.

FAQ

A few quick answers about how the server is moderated and what players can expect.

What counts as cheating?

Cheating includes hacks, cheat tools, and other unfair external advantages that are used to gain power, information, or outcomes that normal gameplay would not allow. That includes methods that may not be specifically listed here yet.

Are exploits treated the same as cheating?

Not always. Exploits and glitch abuses are reviewed case by case. Intent, severity, repetition, and impact on other players matter.

Think of it this way. If it is possible in real life you should be ok.

For example, building a staircase to gain access to the 2nd floor going around barricades. This is ok. What is not okay is glitching through the walls (The Backrooms no-clip) by exploiting the game mechanics.

Is hostile or aggressive roleplay allowed?

Yes. Conflict is part of the experience. The goal is not to remove tension, but to encourage interactions that create memorable gameplay rather than low-effort behavior.

When will an admin step in?

An Admin will step in if cheating is involved. An admin may step in / intervene if repeated behavior becomes disruptive enough to damage the experience for the wider community.

For example, if a player uses metagaming to track down and kill other players with no roleplay or in-world reason, an admin may create an event that favors the community and gives them an opportunity to deal with the offending player.
