Event Overview

Emergency Broadcast: Kentucky National Guard Command
If you can hear this transmission, remain calm and avoid all unnecessary travel. Kentucky National Guard units have been deployed throughout the Knox Exclusion Region to establish emergency checkpoints, deliver medical supplies, and locate uninfected civilians. Distribution teams have been issued field diagnostic kits, Knoxostat antiviral suppressants, and limited quantities of Knoxavir treatment. Citizens showing signs of exposure are instructed to report to the nearest marked checkpoint for screening. Do not approach military personnel unless instructed. Do not interfere with operations. Do not attempt to enter restricted areas. This is a temporary containment operation. Help is on the way.

-That message played for less than two days.

Then the dead changed.
They are faster now. More aware. They no longer stumble aimlessly through roads and fields, and they no longer lose interest as easily. Some have begun moving with a disturbing sense of direction—following sounds, navigating around obstacles, and forcing their way into places survivors once believed were safe.

The Kentucky National Guard was not prepared for the new stage of the infection.

Checkpoints went dark. Convoys vanished. Airdrops landed without anyone left alive to retrieve them. Medical teams attempting to screen and treat survivors were overwhelmed before they understood what had changed.
The Guard’s supplies remain scattered across the region: in abandoned field hospitals, shattered checkpoints, overturned trucks, temporary camps, and crash sites.

Somewhere among those supplies are Knoxavir test kits, Knoxostat, and perhaps the rarest resource left in Knox Country: Knoxavir. Knoxavir does not bring back the dead. It does not heal wounds, hunger, exhaustion, or the damage already done. It may only cure the infection, if you are still alive long enough to use it.

Officially, the Kentucky National Guard came to save the region. Unofficially, no one knows why some of their units are still operating, why survivors have been fired upon near certain checkpoints, or why several supply drops were guarded more heavily than evacuation routes. If the Guard is still out there, are they trying to rescue survivors? Or are survivors now part of the containment problem?
